Meet Hannah Millhollon, the Education & Program Manager here at the St Augustine Lighthouse & Maritime Museum. With over 10 years of experience in education, she has brought fun and passion to the Museum’s Education Department.

Hannah holds a B.A. from Texas A&M in History and says her love for history was inspired by her Grandpa, a Vietnam War veteran who earned a Purple Heart. A proud Texan, Hannah started her teaching career as a high school teacher in Port Arthur, Texas, where she was awarded Teacher of the Month twice! She was also awarded the Impact Teacher of the Year Award in 2021. She particularly treasures this award as it was an honor bestowed on her by the kids themselves.

Hannah is gearing up for this year’s Summer Camp here at the Museum, running weekly from June 3rd to July 18th. “Camp is my favorite!” Hannah says, “I love getting to spend time with the kids. Leaving the classroom for the position at the Museum was a big transition. I love camp because I get to be back in the classroom, but I get to do the fun stuff and teach for the fun of learning and not for testing.”

Hannah doesn’t just teach camp, she oversees all the education programs here at the Museum. Hannah and the Museum host over 150 educational programs a year. That’s over 7,000 learners a year!Hannah has called the Museum home for almost two years now and, in that time, she has significantly expanded our community outreach programs here. Through her dedication, the Museum was able to sponsor the Light the Way to Education Award at the St. Johns County National History Day Competition. This award inspires children to explore education and its role in history!

Hannah’s impact on the Museum is best summed up by the Interpretation Department Manager, Amanda Goodall, when she said, “Hannah has really made us a resource for local schools. Her passion and love of history shines through in all the programs that she creates.” Thank you, Hannah, for your drive and passion to educate the children in our community!
