Winter Camp 2024

The Nation’s Oldest Port Winter Camp at St. Augustine Lighthouse offers an exciting and enriching experience for children in grades 1-4th, igniting their curiosity and fostering a love for exploration and learning. Each day is dedicated to a unique theme, led by experienced teachers who engage campers in STEAM activities, crafts, and educational adventures. Daily lessons align with themes and enhance their learning experience, allowing campers to explore our rich history and natural wonders of St. Augustine.

Fees & Options & Times

Winter Camp: 9 a.m. – 4 p.m. Daily

Drop Off Begins at 9:00 a.m.

Full-week registration is required, single day registration is not available.
Pizza lunch is provided on Friday, please provide lunch for your child on the other days.

Winter Camp 2024 Cost: $250

The Museum’s camp programs follow state learning standards found in CPALMS.
Campers learn and explore through hands-on activities and experiences.
Campers receive: Backpack, Water Bottle, take-home crafts, & Friday Pizza Lunch

Theme: “Tales of the Tower”

Celebrate the 150th anniversary of the St. Augustine Lighthouse by exploring its many roles throughout history. From guiding ships safely to shore to preserving maritime heritage and serving as a sentinel for the community, this camp brings to life the Lighthouse’s incredible legacy. Each day focuses on a unique role, blending history, storytelling, and hands-on activities to engage and inspire young adventurers.

Monday:
“Guide of the Sea”

Dec 30th
Discover how the St. Augustine Lighthouse has been a steadfast guide for sailors, ensuring safe navigation along Florida’s coast. Learn about its beacon of light and the technology that has kept it shining brightly for 150 years.

Tuesday:
“Keeper of the Coast”

Dec 31st
Step into the boots of a Lighthouse keeper and explore the daily challenges of maintaining the light. Experience the dedication and perseverance it took to ensure the lighthouse remained a lifesaving beacon.

Wednesday:
“Defender of the Shore”

Jan 1st
Uncover the Lighthouse’s role as a watchtower during times of conflict and natural disaster. Hear stories of how it safeguarded the coastline and stood as a symbol of resilience during turbulent times.

Thursday:
“Explorer of the Sea”

Jan 2nd
Dive into the world of maritime archaeology and discover the hidden gems beneath the sea. Explore how the lighthouse aids in uncovering and preserving shipwrecks that tell tales of the past.

Friday:
“Beacon of Community”

Jan 3rd
Reflect on the legacy of our lighthouse to create visions for the future of the beloved landmark. Share the stories of pride and history that connect generations and unites the community of St. Augustine.

Cancellation & Refund Policy St. Augustine Lighthouse & Maritime Museum

We reserve the right to combine or cancel classes that have not met the minimum enrollment. Campers will be placed in an alternative class when possible. If St. Augustine Lighthouse & Maritime Museum cancels a class, the payment will be fully refunded. No refunds will be granted on or after the first day of the camp session. All registrations are subject to camp availability.
