Lighthouse Keeper’s Tour

Experience a personal, hour-long visit with St. Augustine’s Lighthouse Keeper as you stroll around the station and climb a working lighthouse. Bring all of your questions and imagination. Learn what it was like to be a lighthouse keeper of the past and today. This experience is offered Tuesdays and Thursdays at 10 AM and 4 PM, and Wednesdays at 10 AM. Call 904-829-0745 to book this tour.

Lighthouse Ghost Tour

The Dark of the Moon Ghost Tour is the only tour that gets you into the Lighthouse at night. We offer two options for this experience (see below), both of which include the option to rent EMF readers.

Ghost tour:  This 1.5 to 2 hour tour includes a guided talk through the 1876 Keepers’ House and the 1874 St. Augustine Lighthouse tower.  Your guide will share true tales from the history of our Light Station. Tours are offered year round on Friday, Saturday and Sundays and more days during peak times. Purchase a combo ticket with regular daytime admission and save on this tour. Expect larger groups during peak season and holidays.

Investigation Only: See for yourself why we are consistently ranked as one of the most haunted sites in St. Augustine! Investigation Only tours are offered on a more limited basis than the Ghost Tour, with fewer spaces available at each. Rent readers or bring your own equipment.

Space is limited! Purchase tickets online in advance to secure your spot.

Private Ghost tours also available for a wide range of timeframes and to groups of all sizes. Private tours are a great option for birthday parties, bachelor/bachelorette parties, family reunions and similar groups. Please call 904-829-0745 for additional information and reservations.

On a Dark of the Moon Ghost Tour you not only hear spooky stories based on real history in the lighthouse at night, you also help us investigate our maritime past.  Ghost Tours support both maritime archaeology and historic research discoveries at the Museum. Stepping up to shiver down your spine helps save our underwater heritage! THANK YOU!

Sunset Moonrise

Once a month, guests are treated to a spectacular view of Mother Nature’s nightly changing of the guard. From your vantage point on top of the lighthouse tower, you can watch the sun disappear behind historic St. Augustine while the full moon ascends from the Atlantic horizon. In addition to the breathtaking view, guests are treated to complimentary champagne from San Sebastian Winery and hors d’oeuvres from The Reef Restaurant.

Space is limited! Tours often sell out well in advance. Click here to see a list of upcoming dates and make your reservations today!

Sunrise, Lens Room Tour

One hundred and sixty-five feet above the ground, our original 1874 first-order, Fresnel lens still shines out over St. Augustine night and day. This gorgeous, handmade marvel of scientific engineering and artistry is nine feet tall, weighs two tons, and is composed of more than 370 handmade glass prisms.

Because of the historical value and delicate nature of the lighthouse lens, the general public is only able to view it from a window below the lens room, just inside the gallery deck at the top of the lighthouse.

For a closer look at the lens (and to see the best view in all of Northeast Florida), you can make reservations for a private lens room tour. This is the only way to get inside the lens room and see the light that has shone over St. Augustine for 145 years!
